1. Our Commitment

Book Community Centre ("BCC") is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of the BCC Platform in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and the European Accessibility Act (EAA).

BCC is a product of Sandron Infotec Limited, a company registered in Ireland (Company No. 797329).

2. Conformance Status

The BCC Platform is working toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are committed to making our platform accessible to the widest possible audience and are continuously improving the user experience for everyone.

We are undertaking the following efforts to ensure accessibility:

Integrating accessibility into our development process and code reviews
Using semantic HTML and ARIA attributes where appropriate
Ensuring sufficient colour contrast across the platform
Supporting keyboard navigation for all interactive elements
Testing with screen readers and assistive technologies
Providing text alternatives for non-text content

3. Accessibility Features

The BCC Platform currently includes the following accessibility features:

Navigation and Structure

Semantic HTML markup for proper document structure
Consistent and predictable navigation patterns
Skip-to-content links where appropriate
Logical heading hierarchy throughout pages

Visual Design

Sufficient colour contrast ratios that meet WCAG AA standards
Readable font sizes with support for browser zoom up to 200%
No content that relies solely on colour to convey information
Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and orientations

Interactive Elements

All interactive elements are keyboard accessible
Visible focus indicators on focusable elements
Form inputs with associated labels and error messages
Buttons and links with descriptive text

Content

Alt text for meaningful images
Clear and simple language throughout the platform
Descriptive link text (not "click here")

4. Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, the following limitations are currently known:

Third-party content: Some third-party components (e.g., Stripe payment forms, Google OAuth) may not fully meet WCAG standards. These components are managed by their respective providers.
User-uploaded content: Images and descriptions uploaded by Community Centre administrators may not always include alt text or meet accessibility standards. We encourage administrators to provide descriptive alt text for all images.
PDF documents: Any PDF documents linked from the platform may not be fully accessible. We are working to provide accessible alternatives where possible.

We are actively working to address these limitations.

5. Assistive Technology Compatibility

The BCC Platform is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS)
Screen magnification software
Speech recognition software
Keyboard-only navigation
Browser accessibility features and extensions

We test with modern versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and their built-in accessibility tools.

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

9. Assessment Approach

We assess the accessibility of the BCC Platform through:

Automated accessibility testing tools during development
Manual testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers
Code reviews with accessibility checklists
User feedback and issue reports

We plan to commission a formal third-party accessibility audit as the platform matures.

10. Changes to This Statement

We may update this Accessibility Statement from time to time to reflect improvements to the platform and changes in accessibility standards. Updates will be posted on this page with the "Last Updated" date revised.
